Each year, the challenge pits famous designers against each other on a themed challenge to spur creative response and reflect on new types of game play. The challenge sits on the design track of the conference and has become a staple attraction of the track. Dodington outlines a practice which has formed from his study as a graduate student at Rice University which has developed into a design practice for “Biological Inclusive Design” which designs with other species rather than for them. This design community is largely architecture based and forms part of the Expanded Environments movement, it tries to collapse the Humanist divide between humans and animals. This work has developed into a book How to Design with the Animal: Lessons in Cross-Species Architeture and Design (2013)
