About This Project

This site is a research blog to accompany research into game design for animals taking place in Lancaster University. The study, conducted by Alan Hook and Supervised by Prof Paul Coulton, aims to research and develop approaches for animal computer interaction in games which will be used to reflect more generally upon how game designers consider game as a system, play as a mode of interaction and fun as an aesthetic pleasure.

This blog is a research repository which is being used to catalogue current research and produce short literature reviews in key areas. As a general taxonomy of posts, they will be titled with the name of the project, paper or chapter, starting with a short summary and will follow with a series of useful quotes for the study from the paper, and a list of possible further reading. This blog then forms a research notebook for summarising and collating work to help the project progress.
